As part of a project on a public and business area Okhta Center in Krasnogvardeysky District a new sports complex will be built, monies being invested by Gazprom companies group.

A new sports complex total area of approximately 15k sq.m. will be located at the location of Turbostroitel stadium on the plot of land restricted by Aleksandra Ulyanova street, Metallistov street, Shepetovskaya street and a park.

Nowadays Turbostroitel stadium needs rehabilitating, since play grounds, fields and existing buildings are semi-ruined.

While selecting a concept of a complex above all the needs of the residents of the adjoining districts in wide-range sports infrastructure were taken into account. A concept was selected which includes a maximum number of facilities for professional training of various sports and for recreation activities.

The following facilities are planned to be included in the complex:
• a full-size football field with an artificial lane and race tracks;
• a covered skating rink with artificial ice;
• a swimming pool for competitive swimming and public visiting;
• a covered universal playing field;
• a bike track which in winter can be used as a ski track;
• auxiliary facilities: a referee pavilion, a storage facility for sports equipment and machinery, a car park, etc.

The facilities will be allocated at the site so that the existing vegetation will be retained.
Upon completion of the construction the sports complex will be transferred into an ownership of Saint Petersburg.

According to the project concept, apart from office premises on the territory of Okhta Center will be located a theater and concert hall, a modern sports complex, linear part areas, cafes, restaurants, museum of modern arts and museum of archeology the first one in Saint Petersburg. The tower will host a public observation deck.
